A former army jawan has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Vadodara, police said on Thursday.

A former army jawan has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl here, police said on Thursday.

Jayant Khant, who was working as a security guard in a private company, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a minor, who was her daughter's friend, they said.

Learning about the victim's pregnancy, Khant went absconding and was hiding in different places, under changed identity, they said.

The victim's mother then lodged a police complaint immediately after she learnt about her daughter's pregnancy.

Acting on a tip-off, the Santrampur police arrested the accused at Veni village, police added.
