Incidentally, MLN Medical College and Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Government Degree College do find mention in this list.

Sunit Vyas, senior member, executive council has urged vice-chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe to kindly ensure fund allocation to these institutions at the earliest.

It may be recalled that till date, inadequate finance to the MLN Medical College resulted in the deterioration of medical facilities to the people and unsanitary conditions on the campus and the associated hospitals. Similar is the case with Dr SP Mukherjee Government Degree College.

Inadequate finance and shortage of working staff has been the major reason for the failure of these institutes to cater to the needs of the people of Allahabad and the adjoining areas.

It is pertinent to mention that sanction of sufficient grants to these institutes would help equip their laboratory/library leading to quality research, enhancement of teaching standards and restoration of public confidence in medical and educational institutes alike.

It may not be out of place to mention that the Executive Committee of the University of Allahabad, in its landmark meeting held on March 21, unanimously resolved that the university should take over these two institutions under its administrative and financial control as envisaged in the Allahabad University Act 2005 passed by the Parliament.

Sunit Vyas has expressed deep anguish over the delay in implementing the resolution of the Executive Council and has made a fervent appeal to the vice-chancellor to implement the resolution of the executive council in letter and spirit at the earliest.
