The residents have also accused the police of protecting the gang.

"There have been frequent incidents of theft, robbery and chain snatching in the last few days. On Wednesday, we managed to catch two burglars who were minors and handed them over to the police. The accused also confessed that he along with other companions is involved in many incidents of theft and snatching in the area," said a resident.

The residents also said that the gang members are migrants and they prey on women and school children. The gang leader lives in Panipat district but often comes to Gurgaon to collect the booty.

"We were surprised to hear that the police are avoiding action against these criminals by saying that they can't do anything as the criminals are minors. The police are also trying to cover up the matter," said a resident.

Meanwhile, the police said that a group of residents brought two teenagers to Sadar police station on Wednesday accusing them of committing burglaries.

"We have not registered any case against them as no such incident has taken place in the area on Wednesday," said an official of Sadar police station.
