The Indian captain, sidelined from ongoing Test with a groin injury, may also miss Mumbai Test next week, team sources said today.

India's captain Sourav Ganguly, sidelined from the ongoing third Test against Australia here with a groin injury, may also miss the fourth and final Test next week, team sources said on Thursday.

"The captain's chances of playing the next match are 50-50," sources told before the start of the third day's play at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) ground here.

The fourth Test is to be played at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai from November 3.

Ganguly, who suffered the injury during the first Test at Bangalore three weeks ago, underwent medical scans here on Wednesday evening.

"There is no blood clot in the right groin area which means it is only a strain. Rest is the best cure," the sources said.

Australia, who lead 1-0 in the four-match series, will secure their first series on Indian soil since 1969 if they win the Nagpur Test.

But a draw or an improbable Indian win will set up an intriguing climax at Mumbai.

India are due to host South Africa for two Test matches soon after the Australian tour ends.

Pakistan are also scheduled to tour India for a limited-overs match at Kolkata on November 13 and three Tests and five one-day internationals in March-April next year.
