"He ran well and looked good which is a good sign for Indian cricket. If you look at his record it is impressive," said Pakistan's vice-captain.

While Indian skipper Rahul Dravid chose to sidestep queries on Sourav Ganguly's performance in the lost Test, Pakistan's stand-in captain Younis Khan was quite vocal in his praise for the deposed India captain.

"He ran well and he looked good which is a good sign for Indian cricket. If you look at his record it is impressive," Younis said in the post-match press conference.

Younis also believed that Ganguly needs to be supported in what is perhaps the toughest phase of his career as he had done a lot for his country.

"I've always said that someone who has performed the way Ganguly has done for his country I think he should be supported," he said.

In the same press conference, Dravid refused to talk about Ganguly's performance saying he did not want to discuss individuals.

"We tend to get caught up in individuals and we tend to attribute losses and wins to individuals rather than focusing on the team. We try to crucify individuals but I am not going to do that," he said.

However, Younis was all praise for Ganguly and called him a great cricketer who played aggressively in the match.
