"More days of employment in relief works would help the people in rural areas overcome the severity of drought for the fifth consecutive year," Gehlot told a public meeting in Gogunda village in Udaipur district yesterday.

The state government was rushing drinking water to scarcity-hit areas through 6,000 tankers and each district collector has been provided Rs 25 lakh to take emergency steps for providing drinking water in difficult areas during the next two months before monsoon sets in, he said.

He said the midday meal being provided to students in government schools all over the state would continue even during summer vacations.
