The flowers of a Puya Raimondi plant, which blooms once in every 80 to 100 years, is something that you get to see very rarely. Known as the Queen of the Andes, the rare plant, near Thumi, 75 miles south of La Paz, Bolivia, once seen as a nuisance to the locals, has gained status because it draws tourists to the impoverished area. This plant is a gigantic inflorescence. It reaches up to 10metres in height, with more than three thousand flowers and six million seeds in each plant.
