"I am a very simple guy and pretty naive about fashion," Gillespie said when asked about any intention of picking up a few designer labels from the ongoing LIFW.

The fast bowler, who was here as the brand ambassador of Foster's, however, put the best foot foward while sharing his views on seamers who were facing a hard task in the one-dayers due to the presence of attacking players like Virender Sehwag and Shahid Afridi.

"It is pretty hard to be a fast bowler in one-day cricket today, specially when Sehwag, Afridi and others going on attack right from the word go," he said.

When asked about the ways to bowl the two most destructive batsmen in cricket, he said, "Sehwag is a pretty good player but he is not comfortable with short balls," he said.

And as far as Afridi was concerned, he said, "I would bowl a few bouncers first and follow it up with a good length ball on or just outside the off stump."

Gillespie, however, soon added that when the two bastmen were on song it was difficult for the oppostition to contain them.

LIFW Jottings: Secrets of the perfect skin

Did you know that repeatedly washing your face on a hot summer day can be harmful? And that 70 per cent of Indian women have oily skin? These were some facts shared by Lakme Lever VP Anil Chopra and cosmetologist Sangeeta Sadarangani at the launch of Lakme Matteffect skin care products recently.

Sadarangani displayed the three-step regime of cleansing, toning and mattifying on model Shivani Kapur.

Business mantra

So far, everyone has been lambasting designers for making a tamasha of their fashion shows with diamond flaunting socialites occupying front rows. Finally, designers have realised that the LIFW means business. Of course, shutterbugs are still on the prowl for the usual suspects. But every time they zoomed around, they found only buyers and members of their own fraternity.

Anamika Khanna goes global

Self-taught designer Anamika Khanna, the first Indian designer to showcase her collection in the London Fashion Week recently, will start retailing her label `Ana-Mika' from Harrods, in August.

"It was a tough selection procedure but it is a great feeling to be selected. What is even more ex citing is the response I've received from everyone there," she says.

Anamika is retailing from a few other stores in London and plans to open her own store soon. She is also targeting markets in Japan, Paris and the United States. Here's wishing more success to Indian designers!
