Police said the girl and her lover were caught by the police after the conducter of the bus they were travelling from Delhi complained about their indecent behaviour during journey.

They were being taken to Kotwali police station from the bus stand on a rickshaw when the girl took out a country-made pistol from her bag and fired at the homeguard who was accompanying them. The personnel died on the spot.

The duo later tried to escape through the busy by-lanes but locals caught them and handed over to police.

Superintendent of Police G P Kannaujia said police had not checked the bag of the girl before taking them to station.
