Vaishnavai and her lover Chaitanya were waiting for the judge in the Lok Adalat when the girl's relatives allegedly stormed into the hall on Wednesday evening and whisked her away into a car waiting outside, they said.

The young couple was referred to the Lok Adalat after they sought police protection, police said.

Advocates and the court staff who tried to intervene were injured in the scuffle, they said.

The court officer reported the matter to the local police station and further investigation is on.
