Girl killed, two hurt in firing over drinking water in AP

A teenaged girl was killed and two others injured in a clash between two groups over drinking water in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh last night, police said today.

Police said Mohd Ghouse, a tailor and his brother-in-law Mohd Mahboob Ali's families had a fight over fetching water from Gram Panchayat public tap.

As the fight took a bitter turn, Mohd Ghouse opened fire with his country-made rifle at members of Mahboob Ali's family, seriously injuring Reshma (15), Waseema (13) and Ikram Ali (40), police said.

The injured were rushed to Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, where Reshma died, police added.

Mohd Ghouse is absconding, police said, adding that a hunt was on for him.
