Condemning the car bomb blast in Srinagar, the BJP on Wednesday charged the UPA Government with failure to contain terrorism and demanded that the Army be given a freehand to deal with the menace.

"Almost every day, there is a terrorist incident. Government has failed to contain terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country," the BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha VK Malhotra said.

Claiming that even the national capital has become the "den of terrorists", he said "the Congress-led coalition appears to be more concerned about 7/7 and 9/11 but is so soft towards terrorism that they have even repealed POTA."

Accusing the Government of not raising with Pakistan the issue of ISI activities or the terrorist infrastructure in that country, he demanded that Army be given a freehand to deal with terrorism.

Malhotra said the BJP would raise the issue of terrorism in a "befitting manner" in the coming session of Parliament.
