Here’s a poser for those who love hitting nightclubs on weekends: What’s it that you’re looking for? Good music, good food, good décor, good space, exclusiveness? Decibel, the new nightclub at the Samrat, launched by fashion designer Rohit Bal (he is the brand ambassador) promises to be exclusive to Delhites with money, status and class to flaunt.

“We do want to keep it exclusive... our cocktails are priced at Rs 250-400 depending on ingredients,” says Jasjiv Saluja, one of the partners in Decibel. (The others are Rajiv Saluja and Anirudh Aggarwal.)

The last nightclub to have named a brand ambassador was the Capitol, and the ambassador, Ramona Garware. “Rohit Bal is not just a brand ambassador but a part of the team, he has been involved in every detail of the nightclub,” says Saluja. Indeed, from designing employees’ uniforms (Bal also designed the uniforms for the Park nightclub Agni’s staff) to inviting exclusive guests to be members of the VIP lounge, Bal was all over the event.

The launch party guests were mainly Bal’s guests: Mira Nair and her husband, Anoushka Shankar with boyfriend Nishant Piralza, Riya Sen, Aparna Chandra, Rohit Gandhi, Rahul Khanna, Mohit Burman, Shashank Bhagat with wife Reshma, Romi Chopra, Francis Wacziarg, Nausheed Cyrus and Ruhin Jaiswal, among others.

And so the nightclub came alive with the Louis Vuitton- and Dior-wallahs. Many are believed to have sulked at not making the guest list. No matter. At 4,000 sq feet, the Capital’s newest nightclub has enough space for them whenever they choose to go.
