Global warming is the real fear

Environment has grim warning for India, Pakistan and Bangladesh with statement that Indus, Ganga and their tributaries will dry up in 80-100 years. This could spell out disaster never known in history before. These nations have every reason to co-operate and talk to the rich nations of Europe, America, Japan, responsible for global warming.

World environment has grim warning for India, Pakistan and Bangladesh with statement that Indus, Ganga and their tributaries will dry up in 80-100 years. This could spell out disaster never known in history before.

Most of the world's rivers outside south Asia are fed by lakes and will not face this danger. All the South Asia's rivers are fed by glaciers. Due to global warming, there will be very heavy flooding first and that may start some time in couple or few decades from now.

Then, the frozen water resources will melt away and before the end of this century all south Asia, subcontinent wide, will have no frozen water resources left on mountain tops to feed the rivers, leaving south Asia dry for ever and without agriculture to feed its people. The most of world's rivers that are fed by lakes do not face this danger. South Asia's population could face famine and extinction unless the outside world feeds the subcontinent.

Therefore, heavy industrialisation and traffic and the ensuing prosperity of Europe, America, Japan and others will be responsible for global warming and caused catastrophe for one third or one fourth of human kind living in south Asia then. Will deserts of south Asia be able to feed 2.5-3 billion projected population at that time?

There could be mass starvation, mass famine and mass extinction of people many times the size the world has ever seen or known. The irreversible damage course or wrath path has already been set and the tragedy is just waiting to happen 80 years or so from now in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. South Asia's life line of agriculture and water resources and its people are waiting to face extinction after our water resources part from us and having stayed with us as our life line since time immemorial.

Pakistan, India and Bangladesh have every reason to co-operate and talk to the rich nations of Europe, America, Japan and others to create south Asia's life line fund as soon as possible so that the food needs are met on permanent basis by the time the tragic events start happening. Problems like Kashmir or quest for energy should look pale and insignificant compared to complete loss of water resources in south Asia. These funds should be in several trillion dollars for availability at time of need. These funds should be no loans, but grants in a special world fund. Some body else's lust for wealth and prosperity and driving various engines of transport and machinery will be bringing doom to south Asia.

Let us hope that south Asia resolve all paltry things compared to the tragedy in waiting and concentrate with concerted efforts to get ready together and united for what is waiting there in future cards for the people of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and others who will be facing extinction of most of their populations.
