A local court on Wednesday granted bail to 2 persons allegedly involved in a conspiracy to execute serial bomb blasts in Goa.
Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco, granted conditional bail to Vinayak Patil and Vinay Talekar who were arrested on the charge of planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at Sancoale, 20km away from Margao town, as the investigation agency failed to file a chargesheet against them, although 180 days had passed since their arrest.
Granting the bail, the judge asked them to furnish a bond of Rs one lakh each and also to report to police every day between 9 am to 1 pm.
Two persons were killed in a bomb explosion in Margao on October 16 last year.
Police's bomb disposal squad (BDS) had defused two IEDs at Sancoale.
Goa police's special investigation team (SIT) had arrested both the accused on October 31, 2009, alleging their involvement in the conspiracy. Two more persons Dhananjay Ashtekar and Dilip Mangaonkar were also arrested by SIT.
Since the bomb blast investigations pointed out towards interstate ramifications, the case was handed over to National Investigation Agency (NIA), in 2009.
