Goa key witness deposes
A key witness in the rape and murder of British girl Scarlette has said he saw arrested bartender Samson D’Souza trying to sexually assault her.
In a deposition before Goa police, Michael Anthony Manyon also said “the girl appeared to be very intoxicated and was walking in an uncoordinated manner”.
The deposition says Manyon saw Samson on “top of Scarlette”. “They both were fully clothed. It appeared that Samson D'Souza was trying to remove Scarlette’s clothes.”
Manyon said he could not help Scarlett as Samson and Murali, one of the persons present at a shack on Anjuna beach where her body was found on February 18, were local men and could have assaulted him.
Manyon said Scarlette was seeking help from the people in the shack as she had no money to go back to Siolim, where she was staying. “I suggested to those present in the bar that we organize a taxi for her and I offered to pay for it. But this suggestion was ignored.”
State wants Scarlette’s mom out
The Goa government will write to the Union Home and External Affairs ministries asking them not to re-issue visa to Fiona Mackeown for her anti-state campaign and her shoddy background, said state Home Minister Ravi Naik, who was accused by Fiona of having links with the drug trade.
