A gang of car-borne robbers looted a canter carrying bidis, cigarettes and other goods worth Rs 15 lakh on the GT Road about 13 km from Sonepat on Tuesday night, police sources said.

The armed robbers escaped after tying the driver of the canter with ropes and throwing him in the fields at Nangal Kalan village in the district, the sources said, adding they fled towards Uttar Pradesh.

Police has registered a case and launched a hunt to apprehend the accused.
