While Panchayat Minister Tomar had resigned after he was elected the State BJP chief, Rampal’s exit was necessitated by his election to the Lok Sabha from the Vidisha seat. The Chief Minister, however, retained his cabinet colleagues to assist him “ till alternative arrangement is made”.

He wanted them to remain till cabinet reshuffle, which appears to have been deferred till the budget session of the assembly. Tomar was keen on quitting the minister’s post. He had virtually stopped attending to his department’s files after becoming state BJP president.
