Ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, the Centre on Saturday briefed key leaders of Congress party on the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal and other foreign policy initiatives to equip them to face the opposition which is set to corner the government in the House.

Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma met senior Congress leaders, including party general secretaries and members of the working committee, to update them about the nuclear deal with the US.
The minister also briefed his party colleagues on the recent negotiations with the country's leadership had with the representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency, a Congress source said.
Sharma had earlier met CPI(M) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sitaram Yechury and a group of leaders of the UPA coalition partners about the details of the deal.
The Indo-US nuclear agreement is expected to generate heat in the Parliament between the opposition and the Treasury benches during the monsoon session that begins on Monday.
