WITH THE stepping in of the government, the row between the employees unions over membership of retired or non- government employees has taken a new turn on Wednesday.

The government, apparently alarmed by the recent threat of the government officials employees action committee to resort to strike from next month if their demands were not met, have categorically refused to negotiate with any representative, who has retired from service or not a government employee.
An order issued by the state government has disapproved the nomination of retired employees or employees of other services on the government employees unions.
The order dated September 13, 2006 signed by principal secretary, General Administration Department (GAD) Khusiram says the GAD circular dated February 15, 2002 had made it clear that participation of those office-bearers of the recognised unions/ organisations in the meetings with the state government, who are not the government employees is against the rules.
The order dated September 13 further says that it has been brought to the notice of the state government that certain unions/organisations have nominated such persons as their representatives, who are not government employees and this was inappropriate.
A section of the employees have been protesting for quite some time against leadership of those government employees who have retired from their service or are non-government employees. The threat given by the action committee has certain such employees, who have since retired. The State president MP Class III Employees Association, Arun Dwivedi has hailed the government order.
