THE STATE Committee of the CPI (ML) New Democracy condemned the State Government’s move to impose ESMA against junior doctors who had been on strike following assault on their colleagues by PTS jawans in the Nauchandi Express on January 15 at Moradabad.

In a Press release, party secretary Dr Ashish Mittal said even those belonging to respectable professions were under attack from those paid to protect citizens and the law.

He said misbehaviour with passengers was common by both GRP and police personnel travelling in trains.

Whatever the claims of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, police personnel forced themselves on the seats of other passengers with impunity, forcing innocent travellers to forego their seats, he said.

He said inquiry by the police was just an attempt to cover up the criminal role of the police and its officials and blame passengers.

He said the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) New Democracy condemned police atrocity and demanded immediate suspension of all the policemen involved, including the superintendent of police and a judicial inquiry, into the entire incident.
