Agrawal was here to participate in the annual conference of IMA district body on Sunday.

Agrawal said that MCI was a regulatory body and it should work freely. He also opposed the reservation roster in appointment of doctors and said every help should be provided to the students of all the caste and religion. Government should assist them to appear in competitions but reservation in appointment was not justified.

Dr Agrawal reveals that 92 per cent people in the country were victim of anaemia and said IMA had conducted a survey in this direction. He expressed his concern over pathetic condition of BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur. He demanded that government should take all the possible steps to meet out the shortage of doctors and processors to save the recognition of this college.

Dr Agrawal called upon IMA district branch members to mount pressure on the government to save the recognition of medical college.

Expressing his concern over the threatening issued to doctors for extortion by the miscreants, Dr Agrawal demanded that government should ensure security to the doctors’ community who served the society.

He said doctors were ready to serve in remote areas and villages but state government should provide basic facilities in the villages. Dr Agrawal claimed that on objection raised by IMA, the Supreme Court redefine the word negligence and now doctors would not be responsible for the death of patients during treatment. Later, he also participated in the election for new office bearers of IMA Gorakhpur in which secretary of Gorakhpur branch Dr BN Singh highlighted various programmes organised by IMA.

Dr SK Srivastav was elected as new president while Dr Ranjan Srivastav was elected as a secretary for the association.
