THE MADHYA Pradesh Government has finally decided to introduce security holograms on each and every liquor bottle, to protect consumers from spurious liquor and increase the State exchequer's revenue.

Considering over all liquor sales, the State Government has selected a hologram that is technical and has secure features. With the introduction of hologram regime, liquor consumers in the State are assured of a genuine and quality liquor brand.
On behalf of the Excise Department, MPLUN called tenders for supply of high security holograms. Sources in LUN told Hindustan Times that a Kolkata-based company had been finalised.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government even after taking the decision to use holograms on liquor bottles, had earlier failed to execute it because of some legal tangles created by some suppliers. This time not only has the entire tender process been completed, MPLUN has also finalised the name of the supplier.
The Excise Department, which is introducing state-of-the-art holograms, has given a special thrust on the quality of holograms and its high resolution features so holograms cannot be duplicated.
Even before holograms begin embossing liquor bottles, allegations of ignoring some specifications given in the tender document floated by MP Laghu Udyog Nigam are already being leveled against the latter.
A party that was denied the tender has also registered its complaint with the Chief Minister, Governor, Lokayukta and EOW alleging the tender was given to a party with no experience in the trade.
The complaint made on behalf of Flex Industries Limited, alleged certain provisions of the tender were violated by giving the order to a company which was not capable of providing maximum security features in their products and it also did not have in house facilities.
When contacted, corporation Managing Director B P Singh denied the charges and said the tender was finalised after great scrutiny. Technical evaluation was also undertaken by a Central Government's undertaking, he said adding that name of the party was finalised after taking all aspects into consideration.
In order to ensure proper quality and pricing, an inspection was also undertaken and it was found the party selected for the contract was capable of supplying quality holograms, he added.
