Speaking at a function to celebrate the 84th birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said there could not be a bigger birthday present for the BJP veteran than the party's win in the recently concluded Gujarat elections.

"BJP's win in Gujarat is not limited to just one region. It will prove to be a turning point in national politics," Advani
said.

Former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, BJP chief Rajnath Singh and senior party leaders were present at the function to celebrate Vajpayee's birthday.

Recalling his long association with Vajpayee, Advani reminisced about the days when the two leaders had watched the movie 'Phir Subah Hogi' at Imperial Theatre in Paharganj after the party's loss in municipal elections.

"We kept telling each other 'phir subah hogi' (there will be another dawn)," he recalled. "Vajpayee's contribution to the BJP is priceless and he is respected equally within the party and even outside," Advani said.
