Gurgaon CJM accused of wife's murder transferred

Nearly two months after he was booked for his wife's alleged murder over dowry, Gurgaon chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Ravneet Garg has been transferred to Jagadhri in Haryana.

Nearly two months after he was booked for his wife's alleged murder over dowry, Gurgaon chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Ravneet Garg has been transferred to Jagadhri in Haryana.

The transfer orders were issued by the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday, a court official said here on Friday.
Garg has been posted as secretary, legal services, Jagadhri, the official said.

The official said that the transfer had been done on Garg's request and that it was routine.The CJM was booked after his wife Geetanjali's bullet-ridden body was found inside the Police Lines compound in Gurgaon on July 17.

While police initially claimed that it was a suicide, Geetanjali's family alleged that she was murdered.

Four days after the incident, a case of murder was lodged and sections relating to dowry death were added.

The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
