Announcing the arrest, new superintendent of police, Guwahati, AP Tiwari, said, "A case has been registered against Neog."

On Thursday, the HC also asked police to submit case diaries of the molestation incident by July 30.

Neog, a reporter with News Live TV channel, was the first to record the molestation on GS road.

He had to resign after RTI activist Akhil Gogoi accused him of masterminding the incident.

Editor-in-chief of the channel, Atanu Bhuyan, also resigned after he too came under fire from chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

The case led to an outcry at the national level after the channel aired the video.

On Monday, the special investigation team of Assam police interrogated Neog, who is accused of hiding facts.

The prime accused, Amarjyoti Kalita, however, continues to be untraced.
