Actor Sean Bean’s greatest test while on location in India for the new TV series Sharpe’s Challenge, was not the enemy, but the dreaded ‘Delhi belly’ aka food poisoning.

The Lord Of The Rings star, who has reprised his role as Major Richarde Sharpe after a period of eight years, was among a number of cast and crew members who were left incapacitated after being struck down food poisoning while shooting the period war drama.

Bean said that though being ill had been unpleasant, he reassured fans that he was well on the road to recovery.

"Being ill was unpleasant but everyone on set has had it. I'm all right now," Femalefirst quoted him, as saying.

And speaking of roads, it seems that it took the actor a little while to get used to the ‘crazy’ Indian roads.

"The roads are crazy, and it takes some getting used to. So does seeing camels on the dual carriageways - it certainly keeps the speed down. It's like a film set, there are cows, dogs and cattle everywhere," he added.
