The hairdo for the models at Manish Arora's LIFW show just had to be the way it was, to compliment the fun and funky comic strip clothes. So, on went the white extension, stiff brows, toys and Statue of Liberty spikes. It worked brilliantly with the yellow and pink make-up, and chewing gum lips. Kiran Uttam Gosh had many hair styles on the ramp. From cyber India to the neta style, her head accessories were in focus.

Kiran Uttam Gosh had many hair styles on the ramp. From cyber India to the neta style, her head accessories were in focus. Monapali's heritage clothing with super workmanship, intricate dyeing and printing reflected the Indian face of beauty, with fabric bindis stretching from the forehead to the aquiline noses and bindis that were used as nose studs.

Geometric crew cut slicks, piled on slicked back hair, was a contrast to the My Fair Lady froth at Paras and Shalini's show. And the overall look of hair went well with Sonam Dubal's beautifully done tribal India collection. The slashed, slanted eyes with coloured edges gave the faces a Himalayan kingdom feel.

What does Damon Kidd, the international hairstylist flown by the Lakmé Beauty Salon, feel about the hair drama at LIFW? "Ideally hair should not distract attention from the clothes. This season the fringe is back. Also in fashion is the V-shaped nape," says the haute coiffeur who unveiled the Hair Next 2004 international hairstyles introduced by the Lakmé Beauty Salon.

And Kidd's opinion about Indian hair? "Indian hair is wonderful! It's so pliable for any style, very much like South American hair. I love Indian hair and the fact that Indian women wear their hair long."

And what's big in hairstyle internationally right now? "Smooth hair with big curls," he says. "Layers are in, and gold, soft copper and soft mahogany hues mixed together in streaks are also hot. The look is very exciting for Indian hair and faces," he adds.
