Haryana records highest ever voter turnout of 72.71 per cent

Haryana, where polling was held for the 90 assembly constituencies on Tuesday, has recorded highest ever voter turnout of 72.71 per cent beating the previous record of 72.65 per cent in 1967.

Haryana, where polling was held for the 90 assembly constituencies on Tuesday, has recorded highest ever voter turnout of 72.71 per cent beating the previous record of 72.65 per cent in 1967.

As the State went to polls to elect its 12th Vidhan Sabha, the highest voter turnout of 87.25 per cent was witnessed in Dabwali constituency in Sirsa district whereas the lowest poll percentage of 54.25 was recorded at Gurgaon segment, an official release said in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Over 1.31 crore voters including 59 lakh women were eligible to cast their votes.

In 2005, when Congress swept the polls, the State had registered a poll percentage of 71.96 per cent.
