COUNSELLING AT the Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI) will be online. There is a flurry of activity on the campus to avoid a repeat of last year’s communication chaos. As counseling will be held in July, authorities are busy to ensure that rain do not play spoilsport this time.

Last year, the online system provided by the Telecom Department had collapsed and at one stage the Uttar Pradesh Technical University  (UPTU) had even contemplated canceling the counseling and summoning candidates to Lucknow.

The system collapse had forced suspension of counseling at all UPTU affiliated colleges in the state.

Recalling his experience during last year’s counseling, one of the senior lecturers at the Computer Science Engineering Department Narendra Kohli said alternate arrangements had to be made till late night and counseling could be started three hours behind schedule.  This save candidates from traveling to Lucknow for the counseling, he said.

HBTI authorities have invited tenders from different companies for providing trouble free online counseling. According to informed sources, the online counselling would cost more than Rs 9 lakh.

Besides, the institute has proposed to allot rooms in separate hostels for male and female candidates to stay during the counseling session.
