Pandey joined Childline in November 2005 and after his association with the organisation he is trying his best to rope in others to the cause. However, his ardency as a social worker could be credited to his attitude of contributing positively towards the society.

"Being a civil services aspirant, I always had the inner urge to prove my worth to the society. Besides there was an eagerness in me to do something on an individual basis so as to bring in tremendous change in the society," he said.

Pandey also did one year diploma course in Human Rights which he feels is a necessity for people like him who are involved in social work. Afterwards he got associated with 'Total cleanliness campaign' at Lakhimpur Khiri and then he stayed at Hardoi and Sitapur and finally got attached himself with Childline in Allahabad.

"I also handle human rights cases and recently I sent seven cases of Musahar tribe to NHRC. I am also the consultant for Actionaid. The urge to create social awareness has made me act as correspondent for Telegraph India," he said.

According to Pandey, Childline deals with triple issues such as rehabilitation of lost children, giving emergency medical aid to children and counselling.

"Counselling is not an easy task as it is very vital to understand the psychology of children. Understanding and not age matters in this regard", he said.

As already known that Childline keeps handling numerous cases of children but Pandey is undertaking several innovative measures in order to resolve the cases quickly.

"Developing contacts in various cities on individual basis is what I am engaged into at present. Students who belong to various cities and studying here are of great help as I have sought their contact number or any other number which could be reached without trouble. Today the network has become so strong that the whereabouts of a child missing from Ballia and found in Allahabad could be traced out immediately", added Pandey.

At present Pandey along with the support of his 20 volunteers are trying to reach the businessmen and affluent class to seek their support for ameliorating the lot of children residing in slums. "We are also planning to meet the college students and create awareness among them besides seeking their support as volunteers. We have also formed a network with the local PCOs", he said.

"It is our attempt to bring together as many willing hands as possible who could support the hapless lot and make a difference in their lives. Even old and used clothes and a day's meal are sometimes adequate to bring a smile on the faces of these innocent children who are victims of circumstances", added Pandey.
