Heavy rains claim six lives in Jalgaon

Incessant rains lashing the district in the last few days has so far claimed six lives even as farmers hope to have a good crop this year.

Kasturabai Sathe (42), a resident of Jamati-Bodhvad village in the district and Vinod Gopal Patil (19) of Sonbardi village, died after lightning struck them while Ravindra Koli (40), Jagannath Choudhari (30), Santosh Patil (42) and Gorakh Patil (65) were washed away by flood waters, police said.

Maharashtra government has announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the next of the kin of the deceased, official sources said.
