Helicopters would be used to transport polling and security personnel at five inaccessible polling stations in Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat where polling would take place during the first phase on April 20, official sources said on Tuesday.

The polling stations where officials and personnel would be airlifted are Larong, Zoupi and Mathuk in Chandel district and Tamei and Khoupum in Tamenglong district.

The Union Home Ministry had agreed to airlift Border Security Forces (BSF) personnel following a request from BSF additional Dig Bijoy Lukra. Airlifting of the personnel would begin from April 16 at these polling stations, the sources said.

Ballot boxes, security and officials would also be brought back by the helicopters after the polling was over, they said.

Private vehicles were also being requisitioned for transporting security and polling personnel in interior polling stations for the first phase polling.
