Heroin worth Rs 44,000 seized, 3 held in Mumbai

The trio were produced before a local court which remanded them to police custody till October 3.

Three persons were arrested from suburban Mulund area and 220 grams of heroin worth over Rs 44,000 were recovered from them, officials said on Tuesday.

Mirabai Sheikh (45), Saifaz Sheikh (30) and Abdul Rashid Sheikh (45) were arrested with the contraband on Monday night when they were about to hand these over to a customer, a Anti-Narcotic Cell official said in Mumbai.

"All the three are residents of Bhiwandi in Thane district and their role was to merely transport the substances to customers. They used to work for Aslam and Khudrus Ansari, both residents of the Padgha town near Bhiwandi, both absconding," the official said.

The trio were produced before a local court which remanded them to police custody till October 3.
