HIGH SCHOOL and Intermediate examinations of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad will begin from March 4, 2006 at nearly 8,000 centres across the State.

Talking to mediapersons, Parishad secretary Basudev Yadav said a total of 46 lakh examinees would appear in both the examinations this year. The examinations would commence from March 4 in two shifts— from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and 2 pm to 5 pm respectively.

While the High School examination will end on April 8, the Intermediate exam will conclude on April 10.

Twenty-eight lakh students would sit for the High School examination while 18 lakh for the Intermediate exam, Yadav said.

Compared to last year, 8 lakh more students would be sitting for the Intermediate exam and 2 lakh taking the High School exam this year, he said.

The self centre system would remain effective this year as well, he added.
As many as 90 per cent invigilators at one examination centre would belong to other colleges, he further said.

Regarding the steps taken to curb mass copying, Yadav said every invigilator would be issued an identity card by the centre superintendent. At aided colleges, principals would be appointed as centre superintendents while at non-aided colleges, an outside teacher would be appointed the centre superintendent. Principals of non-aided colleges would work as assistant superintendents, Yadav added.
