Highest scores on captaincy debut
Strauss, by scoring 128 against Pak, entered his name in record books, writes Rajneesh Gupta.
Even though the just-concluded Lord's Test between England and Pakistan ended in a dull-draw on Monday, England's stand-in skipper Andrew Strauss entered his name in the record books by scoring 128 in the second innings.

His gritty innings is now the highest in terms of runs by any England player and second-highest on the all-time list of captaincy debuts.
The previous record was on the name of Allan Lamb, who made 119 at Bridgetown against West Indies in 1989-90 captaining the side in place of regular captain Graham Gooch.
A total of 24 players have scored centuries while leading their respective sides for the first time. Two players - New Zealand's Graham Dowling and West Indies' S Chanderpaul turned their hundreds into double hundreds.
Strauss is placed tenth in this elite list, which includes eight Australians, four New Zealanders, three Indians, Englishmen and West Indians apiece, two South Africans and one Zimbabwean.

Australia's Bill Murdoch and Gilbert Trott scored a century in the second innings of the match after getting dismissed for a duck in the first innings.
Another Australian and current Indian coach Greg Chappell is the only player to have scored two centuries in his first Test as captain. India's Vijay Hazare went on to score centuries in his first two innings as captain.
Dave Houghton, the only Zimbabwean in the following list is, in fact, the only player to have done so in his country's first ever Test.
