Hit five years ago, Abdul falls victim again in Hyderabad blasts

Thirty-year-old Abdul Wazid Mirza lost a leg in the 2007 bomb blast in old Hyderabad city. Five years later, he suffered severe injuries to his abdomen in yesterday's twin blasts at Dilsukhnagar where he had shifted, thinking that it was a safer locality.

Back then, Mirza had to spend nearly a year undergoing treatment and thereafter rehabilitation to be able to walk. Today, he lies in Yashoda hospital in a critical condition, say doctors.

Dilsukhnagar, Mirza had thought, had a more cosmopolitan atmosphere and he would be away from danger here.

"It's all fate. He wanted to change his fate by changing localities, but whatever has to happen happens," said Mirza's relative Mohammed.

Similarly, Vijaya Kumar and Raj Sekhar, two students had sauntered down from their crowded room to the tiffin centre to have tea. Both were chatting near the tiffin centre and received the full impact of the blast and died on the spot.

Subha, a government employee, had gone for a dental check-up to the clinic near Konark Theatre. "As I was waiting for my turn, I heard a massive blast and before I could comprehend, the roof collapsed," she said.
