Senior BJP leader LK Advani told party MPs that the party would also request the Election Commission to announce dates for assembly elections due next year as early as possible.

"He (Advani) said the elections in Goa and other states where they are due should be held simultaneously. A party delegation will soon meet the EC in this regard," deputy leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Vijay Kumar Malhotra said after the BJP's parliamentary party meeting, it's last in the current session.

Advani also expressed satisfaction with the party for its role in the session.
"He said the opposition was able to raise issues ranging from Afzal's death sentence, internal security and prices to tie nuclear deal with the United States very effectively," Malhotra said.

During the meeting, chaired by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, party MPs alleged that the Centre was biased against BJP-ruled states while allotting food stocks for BPL consumption.

Advani told them that a party delegation would take their complaint to the Prime Minister.

MPs from Madhya Pradesh alleged that the Centre released less than half of the 800,000 metric tonnes of urea and fertiliser requested by the state government.
