With reference to the report, 7.9 reasons to smile, GDP bounces back (December 1), it is too early to be elated about the GDP growth as a quarter is too short a time period to forecast how the rest of the fiscal year will turn out to be. Even when the share of agriculture is only 17 per cent in GDP, it cannot be a neglected sector. Food inflation and the livelihood of a majority of the people are still dependent on agriculture. With the withdrawal of the stimulus package, interest rates could increase, thereby reducing private investment. Nothing has been revealed about the change in the employment level. The latest numbers should be viewed with cautious optimism.

Unable to bell the CAT
The report, CAT still can’t get mouse act right (November 30), came as a shock to thousands of aspiring management students as Prometric, one of the leading organisations in conducting online examinations, failed because of technical flaws. The authorities should have been more cautious as the future of thousands of youngsters depends on the test.

Not quite all in the family
With reference to the editorial Bahu vs Sena (The Pundit, November 30), it appears that the Shiv Sena is unable to keep its house in order. First it was Raj Thackeray and now it is bahu Smita Thackeray. It’s clear that Smita is sensible enough to give importance to other languages. For a member to abandon the family party and join a rival party will be viewed as quite a setback.
