"Shyam Benegal told me to invite Depp for the festival next year as he would be in Goa. It's a good idea and we have plenty of time," Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) Director Afzal Amanullah told PTI.

Depp is expected to be in Goa in November 2006 for shooting scenes for his latest production 'Shantaram' - slated for release the following year.

'Truman Show' director Peter Weir has been roped in to direct the film - an adaptation of the Gregory David Roberts' bestseller about an Australian ex-con who opens a medical clinic in Mumbai.
