Vice-chancellor of the university, Prof Arun Kumar, appreciated the students union for organizing such a grand programme to pay respect to the martyrs.

Special guest on the occasion, Lt General Shriprakash Mani Triphati, equated the programme with the service of the armymen deployed on the border. The students of Central Academy, Navals Academy and St Andrew’s Degree College staged a series of cultural programmes to recall the sacrifices of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and others who fought for the country’s freedom from the British. Congress activists organised a special prayer at the Town Hall crossing to pay homage to the Father of the Nation. Congress leader Rais Ahmad Khan and others said that Gandhiji teachings were significant in the present scenario . Congress leader Markandey Singh, Kusum Pandey, Shiv Kumar Srivastav and Laxmi Chand Sinhania recited the favourite Bhajan of Mahatma Gandhi, Sab Ko Sammat De Bhagwan.
