Usually only spotted behind the bar, city mixologists let loose at a mega drinking games party. Know more about this fun cool party game.

While they’re always ready to top up a customer’s glass, you’ll rarely spot a bartender drinking and making merry. Which is why at a recent event at Tote on the Turf, 80 bartenders from across Mumbai let loose and let their hair down.

Organised by Hendricks gin, the event was called The Hendricks Uncommon Games and was an afternoon of debauched fun, with special emphasis on creating new mixes usually with ingredients that were kept a surprise until the end.

Hostess Sangeeta Singh announced the start of the games where participants were divided into five groups and handed props such as top hats, bow ties and suspenders.

The first game was Martini relay where three members from each group had to prepare a martini while running a relay. Despite running from one end of the relay area to the other, the bartenders didn’t drop their glasses or spill their drink, managing to present the judges with artistic mixes.

Without a break, the next game was announced. The three-legged limbo had two members from each team sharing a three-legged trouser, while doing the limbo and singing a song. One team won the judges over with their rendition of Jeena yahan, marna yahan.

The most exciting game of the day was Mixology, where each team was handed a magic box filled with cocktail-making ingredients, which they were expected to turn into a gin-based cocktail. In high spirits, the bartenders ended the day tasting each other’s concoctions and exchanging notes.
