Hostel inmates go on rampage, block traffic
ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) students and inmates of AU's Tara Chand (TC) Hostel went on the rampage on Monday and destroyed a bus, a tempo-taxi and several other vehicles and held a 'Chakka-Jam' near Motilal Nehru Institute of Research and Business Administration (MONIRBA) following the reports of alleged kidnapping of one of the inmates of the TC Hostel.
ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) students and inmates of AU's Tara Chand (TC) Hostel went on the rampage on Monday and destroyed a bus, a tempo-taxi and several other vehicles and held a 'Chakka-Jam' near Motilal Nehru Institute of Research and Business Administration (MONIRBA) following the reports of alleged kidnapping of one of the inmates of the TC Hostel.
The 'chakka jam' created problems for the passengers as the entire traffic in the area was disrupted.
The trouble started on Monday morning when some unidentified armed persons raided the tea tall near TC Hostel and took away a student leader and an inmate of TC Hostel Sudhir Kumar Singh alias Ganesh Singh in a black car.
Hundreds of students gathered at the spot and blocked the road.
The students pelted stones and damaged several vehicles during the one-and-a-half- hour road blockade.
Station Officers of several police station including Daraganj, Kotwali, Shivkuti and George Town rushed to the spot with force but the students refused to clear the 'chakka jam'.
The 'chakka jam' was lifted after CO Colonelganj Rahul Srivastava reached the spot and informed the agitating students that Ganesh Singh has been taken away by police officials in civil dress for investigation in connection with PGAT question paper leakage.
Only then the situation became normal and the traffic moved unhindered.
