SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT of police (SSP) GK Goswami, on Wednesday, held a meeting with city hoteliers to discuss security issues related to visitors and grievances of the hotel owners.

The SSP asked the owner/managers of hotels to ensure sending form ‘C’ (meant for verification of foreign visitors) to the local intelligence unit (LIU) the same day of the check-in. The cop said the LIU was not receiving such forms timely from the hotels. He said negligence on the part of hotel staff delayed the process of verification and could also cause trouble sometime.
On the other hand, hoteliers put their grievances before the SSP saying that police teams did not behave properly while conducting routine checking on various occasions. They complained searches were not done properly and visitors were harassed.
The SSP assured the hoteliers that all such checking would now be done in the presence of circle officer or in-charge of the local police station.
Meanwhile, hotel owners of Charbagh area raised problem of traffic movement due to illegal encroachments on the roadside. They said the encroachment affects their hotel business adversely. Additional SP (Traffic) was instructed to visit the area and resolve the matter.
Besides, the hoteliers also said some hotels in the city were running illegally without proper registration which also affect the business of “genuine” hotels.
The SSP assured he would request the district magistrate to initiate action against such offenders.
The SSP provided numbers of senior police officials and in-charge of police stations to the hoteliers asking them to contact the police official concerned whenever they met with any trouble.
