The decision of about 5-10% hike in the examination fee by the HPU administration has triggered resentment among the students. SCA members raised slogans and warned to launch massive agitation against the university authorities if the administration failed to withdraw the hike in examination fee.
“Education has been commercialised in the university as the examination fee of the shastri and prabhkar courses has increased from Rs 40 to Rs 280. The university authorities also proposed to raise the fee structure for postgraduate courses on the similar pattern,” said SCA general secretary Vikram Kaith.
He said university authorities were forced to roll back the decision of hike in fee last year as a result of the students' protest.
They also protested against the decision of privatisation of education and outsourcing of examination branch in the university.
