The new HSBC-NRI banking service would give the non-resident Indian community in Canada a convenient and cost-effective access to a wide range of global banking services, an HSBC press release said in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The services would include remittance and placement of Indian Rupee and other foreign currency account deposits in India, it said.

“With the launch of this new service, we hope that this will facilitate banking transaction between the two countries,” HSBC India’s Head of Personal Financial Services, Rajnish Bahl, said in the release.

HSBC, which has already established NRI banking programs in 11 other international markets, has now customised this programme to meet the specific needs of the large and growing Indian community in Canada,“ the release said.
