He instructed estate officer (EO) Mukesh Solanki and sub-divisional engineer (SDE) SK Rana to provide all information about the slum, which has mushroomed in the area.

“Let me know how these people re-settled on Huda’s land, and also about the people who help these slum dwellers in encroaching upon the land,” said the administrator, adding that he is looking for an alternative site to relocate the people.

The administrator, meanwhile, visited the site on Saturday and told HT that he will remove the slum at the earliest. The Huda chief had visited the site earlier also but faced strong resistance from land mafia and locals, who protested against removal of the slum.

“Now we have assured an alternative site to the slum people,” Kumar said.

The department has received many complaints about nuisance created by slum dwellers from residents of neighbouring colonies, including Garden Ville, DLF and Sushant Lok.

Residents alleged illegal activities like sale of liquor and drugs flourish in the slum.
