IN A joint operation, police and excise department officials busted an illegal liquor racket and recovered a huge quantity of adulterated country-made liquor in Baragaon area on Tuesday.

Police arrested the manager of the factory and recovered 7,000 pouches of illicit country-made adulterated liquor, 500 small quarter size bottles of liquor and equipment like filling and packaging machines.
The mastermind of this illegal factory is absconding.
According to information, excise officials got a tip-off that an illegal liquor factory was being run in Ishipur village under Baragaon police station.
Soon after the information, Excise Officer PC Mishra and Station Officer PC Pandey, along with heavy force, raided the village and surrounded
the factory.
Seeing the police, some workers fled the scene while manager of the factory Ramayan Rai, a resident of Bihar, was nabbed from the spot.
During search, officials were surprised to see the huge stock of illicit country-made liquor.
Ramayan told the police that four persons of the same village owned the factory and he was simply supervising the labourers working there.
An organic product was being mixed with the liquor before filling it into pouches and bottles before delivery to customers in several districts of Purvanchal, causing huge loss of revenue to the Excise department.
The recovered items from the factory also included 10 litres of oraganic product, 2,000 empty pouches and around 200 plastic drums of 10 to 15 litre capacity.
