Nur Islam (32), an associate of a prominent HUJI militant Jalaluddin nabbed earlier by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, was arrested on Friday night from his residence in Bansghata village by the state CID, they said.

Jalaluddin, a one-time resident of the South 24-Parganas district, was suspected to be involved in the Sharamjeevi Express blast and also blasts in Delhi, Mumbai and Varanasi in 2005.

Islam was brought to Bhavani Bhavan in the city last night for interrogation by the CID sleuths, they said.

According to the sources, Islam used to visit Bangladesh and several other countries acting as a 'carrier' of the HUJI. It was not known if arms were found with him.
