Husband throws acid on wife in northwest Delhi

A housewife in northwest Delhi suffered severe burn injuries when her husband threw acid on her, police said.

A housewife in north-west Delhi suffered severe burn injuries when her husband threw acid on her in an attack believed to be the result of a bitter marital discord, police said on Wednesday.

Sandeep, who works in an export firm and is a resident of Mongolpuri, attacked his wife Shalu late on Tuesday night while she was sleeping with their three-year-old daughter, they said.

The 21-year-old housewife suffered 35 per cent burn injuries in the attack and was rushed to the nearby Sanjay Gandhi hospital.

She was later referred to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain hospital, where she is recuperating now.

The 25-year-old attacker has been arrested and a case registered against him for attempt to murder.

A Sub-Divisional Magistrate level inquiry has also been ordered into the incident.
